Forged in the hyperborean beauty of a remote Alaskan island, Halie Loren’s gift for capturing the playfulness, pizazz, vulnerability, and sensuality inherent in a classic lyric appeared early on. In 2000, Loren earned first place in the Austin Songwriters' Contest for three of her songs in the country, singer/songwriter, and jazz categories. She took songwriting awards in the John Lennon Songwriting Contest and Billboard World Song Contest. Her debut jazz CD, 2008's They Oughta Write a Song, won the JPF award for Best Vocal Jazz Album, and by 2010 the world had opened up to her — with distribution in Asia by JVC/Victor Entertainment, it became Japan's No. 2-selling jazz CD of the year. She followed with Stages, her first live CD, and mere months later, After Dark, which Wildy's World Music Blog selected as one of 2010's top three independent albums and named her Artist of the Year. "Thirsty," a Loren original on After Dark, won the Independent Music Awards Vox Pop poll for best jazz song of 2011. Loren's newest CD, Heart First, was released in Asia in late 2011, and almost immediately the first single from the album, Fly Me to the Moon, reached No. 1 on the iTunes Japan jazz chart and stayed there for several weeks. To date, more than 50 of her songs have entered Japan's iTunes jazz top 100. Loren’s performances in the past year include sellout crowds in Canada, Hong Kong, Italy, Japan, South Korea, as well as Hawaii and other U.S. locales. 'Heart First' has received much critical acclaim already, including Japan's Jazz Critique magazine’s #1 rank in the Vocal Jazz Album category for all of 2011.Having recently signed with Wild West Artist Management and Music Marketing Management, Loren is looking ahead to an ever expanding music career. New England based rock group Gone for Days originated in 2010 after lead vocalist Chris Taylor had left his current band Vegas Temper. His vision was to pursue a different songwriting direction that was more personal to him as a writer. Through a mutual management relationship, Taylor had met guitarist Jesse Hatch who at the time was in Florida who just accepted a job with a Universal Record label doing radio promotion, touring as well as artist development in Nashville Tennessee. The staff recognized Hatch’s talent for songwriting and was soon outsourced as a songwriter. Hatch was still looking for a similar song writing situation as Taylor and the two forged a long-distance writing partnership, and would soon record what would be the first songs of the GFD project. After catching the attention of major labels and management firms, Taylor and Hatch decided that it was crucial to live closer to one another. Jesse packed up his life in Nashville and moved to New England to unite with Taylor. In the past Jesse had worked on a project in Nashville with vocalist and bassist Christopher Dickman. The GFD project was over 1,000 miles away, yet Jesse immediately texted Chris to brush up on his bass playing skills and asked Dickman to come to Boston for an audition. After the auditioned, Dickman was accepted into the project and like Jesse, left Nashville and all his current recording projects to pursue GFD full-time. Enter an old bandmate of Taylor's - Justin Pacy on the drums. Their hit single 'Guilty Pleasure' can be heard on Sirius-XM Octane! For more information, visit www.gonefordays.com

New Jersey hard rockers SYKA made their debut on the scene on New Year’s Eve 2011 opening for Halestorm, playing songs from their upcoming self-entitled debut album. The band formed in late 2011 with lead vocalist, Syka, and guitarist, X, waiting to find the right chemistry before taking it on the road. The band is named after the lead vocalist, Syka, who said, “We had all of the music written, rehearsed, and ready to go-- we just needed that power duo on drums and bass to complete the lineup.” With the addition of Sgar (Bass) and Stryker (Drums), the band launched on New Year’s Eve and has been touring around the NYC Metropolitan area since. Recently, ‘Love Sick,’ the first single released from the upcoming album, was spotlighted by Jonathan Clarke, DJ at New York’s Classic Rock Station, Q104.3. Not only was the song presented on Q104.3, but SYKA was also chosen as one of the top unsigned bands in the NYC area. This has led to an abundance of opportunities for the band in a small amount of time. On July 11, 2012, SYKA will be performing at Tammany Hall along with two other finalists chosen by Clarke hosted by Q104.3 and sponsored by Cabo Wabo Tequila. Link: http://www.q1043.com/pages/onair/out-of-the-box.html As Syka and the band continue to tour and put the finishing touches on their upcoming album, guitarist X said, “The band is considering options with different labels but are not rushing to sign anything at the moment, just as we will not compromise our music and will wait until we have the sound we want before any release. We are doing the same before taking that next step with a label. In the meantime, we are having the time of our lives!!” For more information, visit www.syka.net.

In August 2011, Carolina Barcelos Carneiro de Oliveira Miller passed away tragically as a result of Sudden Unexpected Death in Epilepsy (SUDEP). She was only 25 years of age. Carolina had epilepsy since her teenage years and had taken medication daily to control her already infrequent seizures. However, SUDEP tragically struck. SUDEP is a little known and less understood aspect about epilepsy - affecting 1 in 1000 people with epilepsy who are controlled (i.e. medication) and 1 in 150 people with epilepsy who are uncontrolled (i.e. no medication.). A staggering and alarming fatality rate. Since that time her husband, Eric Miller, has worked tirelessly to raise awareness about epilepsy and SUDEP particularly. Not only to honor Carolina but in the hopes of preventing others from suffering such a tragic loss. Among other things, he's created Candlelight Concerts for Epilepsy Awareness, an online concert series featuring international performers. These intimate house concerts are streamed online for a pay-what-you-can donation. People have been tuning in from around the globe, furthering the message about epilepsy to a broader community. For more on Carolina's story, epilepsy, and this benefit concert series you can visit http://www.CandlelightConcert.org

Jeremy Campbell was born February 15th, 1984. He grew up with one constant companion, which was movies. At the age of ten, he would profess to One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest as being his favorite movie. He had an inherent understanding of story at a young age. It was as a teenager that he stumbled upon the manuscript for A Nightmare on Elm Street in a local comic book store. It grabbed his imagination and pointed him even more firmly in the direction of story telling and the art of directing. Here he had a script written by its own director, and written as such he realized what it was a director really did. With this knowledge he went forward with a new dream on his shoulders. Life though has its way of beating the dreams out of the young. Coming from a large family, who at times struggled to make ends meet, Jeremy was thrust into the work force quickly. It was just as quickly that his dream faded away to a memory, but it was still always there just hiding beneath the surface. He still found other ways of telling stories. He would tell them to the children that he worked with at the local daycare for a time and at the local library. It wasn’t until he got married at the age of 26 that he found his dream again and decided it was worth dusting off. It all began again with a story about his childhood growing up in Arlington, Texas that he wanted to share with the world. Things eventually grew from that story to him picking his dream back up and running with it, to get him to where he is today. Jeremy currently has numerous short films, including ‘The Horror Club’ and ‘Try To Survive,' under his belt, and is hoping soon to be able to finance a feature film. His short most recent short film is 'Velvet Vengeance,' and his films have been featured in film festivals and nominated for awards. For more information, visit www.facebook.com/13thElmFilms
