It’s no secret that the world of rock music has gone through some big changes, and Boston, being one of the greatest hubs of hard rock & metal, was hit as hard as any. SILENT SEASON came together during this time, selecting a name that reflects the end of favorite venues, radio stations and record stores. “We selected a band name which has depth to it, an emotional play” says drummer Dave Pappalardo. “There is not exactly a wildfire of new music happening right now, and as musicians we have to stay positive." Silent Season is starting a movement – holding the torch for bands which influenced us, with a sound uniquely ours. Citing influences ranging from Breaking Benjamin and Three Days Grace to Metallica and The Beatles, SILENT SEASON incubated for a year with lead singer & lyricist Jeremy Rae and drummer Dave Pappalardo writing and rehearsing to define the band before coalescing with guitarists Brendan Sheehan and Josh Thompson and bassist Andrew DeCicco. The band worked with producers Alex “The Greek” Hatziyannis at Old Folks Studios, Brad Young who has platinum LFO albums to his credit, and former Creed bassist and Dark New Day singer Brett Hestla. Twelve tracks were delivered for SILENT SEASON’s debut album, Breaking Me Down, due summer 2012. The album was mastered at M-Works Studios in Cambridge, MA by Grammy-nominated producer Jonathan Wyner, whose credits include Nirvana, Bruce Springsteen, David Bowie and Aerosmith. SILENT SEASON developed the concept for their premiere video and single “Chance” as a platform to give a voice to the struggling artist who deals with the pressures of life and the lure of drugs. “We want to make a statement with this video.” says David. “Life is short – don’t get side-tracked, stay true!” For more information, visit www.silentseasonmusic.com

In February 2003, halfway through his second year at Georgetown University Law Center, J-L Cauvin went to a bar near his apartment and watched an amateur showcase of comedians. J-L began inquiring how he could get some stage time and after following some leads he began performing at open mics at the end of that academic year. Quickly developing a knack for it, J-L was named Washington D.C.’s funniest college student, despite not really being a college student, in March 2004 at a sold out show at the D.C. Improv. After moving back to his native New York upon graduation from GULC in May 2004, J-L continued to work harder and harder as a comic, all while working as an Assistant District Attorney during the day in the Bronx and later as a litigator at Blank Rome LLP. He has received multiple invitations to the Boston Comedy Festival, traveled the country as a feature act and was featured on The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson and NESN’s Comedy All Stars. His act is as diverse as his Haitian and Irish family and touches upon topics ranging from current events to relationship troubles to several dead-on impressions, including Barack Obama. J-L’s has released three CDs, 2006’s Racial Chameleon, 2008’s Diamond Maker and 2012's Too Big To Fail. He has also been featured in the book The Complete Idiot’s Guide to Jokes. In 2011, he helped found, Comedians At Law, a nationally touring group of lawyers-turned-stand up comedians. For more information, visit www.jlcauvin.com and follow him @JLCauvin.

Coming from a city that has all but collapsed due to the economy, this Detroit based band is literally making their move. After their initial EP release called “Break The Silence,” and their latest single “Make Your Move,” this band has had theme songs for TNA Wrestling pay per views, iTunes features, has received the award of number one unsigned band on Alternativeaddiction.com, toured the Midwest and sold 3,000 copies of their initial release that was self produced, mixed and mastered. These guys are some of the hardest working people around and do you know why that is? That’s how they were raised. “Detroit is the best city to prepare for the music lifestyle,” says B.J. Perry, Lead Singer of The Product. “It’s hard, cold, unforgiving, but if you are lucky enough to get this city behind you, nothing and no one can stop you.” The band aims to reinvigorate Detroit back to “Detroit Rock City.” The single “Make Your Move” was a standalone song for iTunes and a generous portion of their sales went directly to Habitat For Humanity because they believe that everyone deserves a chance to make their dreams come true. Their brand new EP ‘So Alive’ was produced by none other than Brian Virtue whose credits include Puddle Of Mudd, Chevelle, 30 Seconds to Mars and Korn. They have also toured heavily through the Midwest and shared the stage with bands including Pop Evil, Danko Jones, Janus, Evans Blue, Cavo and All That Remains! A new tour is set to start the beginning in May in support of their new single “My Damage.” For more information, go to www.theproductrock.com

After selling millions of albums with Extreme Behavior and Take It To The Limit, touring the world for five years and living large, the rowdy Oklahoma boys in Hinder faced the reality of a subdued life at home. They had a new album to finish and also needed to adjust to a civilian existence after an endless party. It was more of a startling transition than they expected, but it also gave them some time to contemplate their lives and what the future may hold. The result of all that soul searching comes in the form of their latest hard rock gem, All American Nightmare. The most striking reflection of their situation is the song "What Ya Gonna Do," which asks the question without providing a clear-cut answer. "It's not about an answer, it's about how everybody interprets it," explains singer Austin Winkler. "That song is really personal and hits home with me because we are out on the road [a lot], and partying eventually does get old. You grow up and have to deal with reality. Whenever you step on a tour bus it's a fantasy world. That song came from touring nonstop for five years and then taking eight months off and adjusting to life in general. This isn't going to last forever. The Hinder gang -- Winker, Hanson, bassist Mike Rodden and guitarists Joe Garvey and Mike King -- is facing a time of transition. Now in their late twenties, they are on the cusp of growing up, so to speak, and wondering how that growth spurt will change them. But they haven't gotten all serious and somber. All American Nightmare is still ripe with the bluesy, gritty hard rock that they have made their name on -- in fact, it features some of their heaviest music yet! And so the story continues…For more information, visit www.hindermusic.com

Valkyrians is a Philly-based band that has established a reputation of a band hard to categorize, but with a memorable sound. Their foundation in the alt-rock category is tainted by Cris Valkyria’s soft, but potent vocal work with melodic folk and world undertones, and the incredibly counter-intuitive and octave-challenging harmonies provided by Valkyria and multi-instrumentalist/co-songwriter Lou Paglione will render you with a discombobulated, yet balanced and melodic impression. Valkyrian’s solid, but raw sound picture is vaguely reminiscent of the prime time of musical history, but the mixology of classic roots coupled with the cross-genre flirtations and melodic harmonies, will ultimately leave a novel and interesting residue. She is also often seen as a duo with Lou Paglione; either performing original Cris Valkyria songs, or as a part of a children songs project: Cris & Lou (crisandlou.com)! As mentioned above, Valkyrians consists of Lou Paglione who is a tremendously versatile multi-instrumentalist and songwriter. His former musical merits ranges from playing with bands opening up for acts like The Hooters and Cinderella, to playing the accordion on the Al Alberts Showcase television program as a young, prodigious 6 year old Italian immigrant. And to complete the band is lead guitarist Mark Harris who is a sought after session player and working musician around the Tri-State area. A multi-instrumentalist who plays guitar, bass and keyboards, Mark has studied music most of his life, including formal training while attending college.
